Welcome

We aim to ensure your time at Lowestoft College is a positive and rewarding experience. In order to enable you to achieve this, the following members of staff are available to offer advice, support and assistance.

Guidance and Information Officers

The Guidance and Information Officers (better known as GIOs), are your first point of contact for all enquiries and applications. They are there to support and advise you from the enquiry stage right through application to the enrolment process and throughout your time at college. After receiving your application, a GIO will invite you for an interview where they will talk to you about fees, travel, childcare and any other issues you may have. The GIOs are available (throughout the year) in Student Services, which is located on the ground floor of the Horizon Centre.

If you would like any information, advice or guidance, please telephone 0800 854 695 and ask to be transferred to a GIO.

Attendance Officers

The Attendance Officers are your contact for all Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) enquiries and applications. They can help you with the application queries and with general enquiries. They are available (throughout the year) in Student Services.

The Attendance Officers also monitor your attendance once you are at College and they should be called on (01502 525030) if you are unable to attend College for any reason:

Student Advisor

The Student Adviser is available in Student Services in the Horizon Building to talk to you about any concerns you might have that could affect your studies. These may be financial matters, travel problems, course issues, bullying or other personal worries - the Student Adviser is there to listen. If you prefer, you can speak to the Student Adviser in a quiet, confidential room. In all cases the Student Adviser will do their best to help and offer guidance.

The Student Adviser helps with the administration of various funding schemes, including the College's Learner Support Fund which provides assistance to students who are struggling to meet the costs of attending college.
